Description

Arojah Royal Theatre is a professional theatre group that aims to use theatre as a tool for social change. Comprised of 35 resident artists, including actors, actresses, dancers, singers, and instrumentalists, A.R.T is a member of both the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners and the National Council for Arts & Culture.

Founded in 2007, A.R.T became fully professional in October 2010 with “The Killing Swamp,” a play advocating for human rights written by the late Adinoyi Onukaba Ojo. The group strives to consistently produce top-notch theatre that enlightens, entertains, and challenges its audience.

Arojah Royal Theatre boasts an impressive repertoire of African and contemporary dances, plays, and campaign dramas. Their ultimate goal is to collaborate with like-minded organizations to create a better future for our world.

The vision of Arojah Royal Theatre is to consistently produce theatre of the highest standard that both entertains and challenges its audiences. The group aims to engage the audience’s imagination and further develop the theatrical form.

The mission of Arojah Royal Theatre is to promote the arts by producing innovative and high-quality theatre experiences that cater to all types of audiences, both locally and internationally. The group also provides professional touring productions globally while exploring the art form of theatre through new works and reinterpretations of classics. Additionally, A.R.T offers young artists the opportunity to be mentored by theatre professionals while providing outreach through theatre-based educational activities such as classes, workshops, camps, and interactive sessions. The goal is to secure the long-term vision of the arts and their realization.

As a Nigerian theatre group, A.R.T is deeply aware of its history and current social context. Their core values include protecting artistic independence and free expression, presenting high-quality and innovative art from South Africa and around the world, and valuing clients and partners by meeting their artistic needs through productions and other engagements. Above all, the group is committed to using art as a social force to enhance the lives of others.
