The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) was established in February 2011 by the Federal Government of Nigeria for public benefit and it is recognized globally. Throughout our great history, FULafia has offered access to a wide range of academic opportunities.
The pioneer Vice Chancellor of the University was Professor Ekanem Ikpi Braide and the current Vice Chancellor is Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman. The Federal University Lafia started with an initial student population of 243 at the commencement of academic activities in 2012, which has now increased to over 5000 in the 2018/2019 academic session.
The philosophy of the Federal University of Lafia is anchored on its core values of academic quality, critical thinking, innovation, entrepreneurship, excellence, social responsibility, and sustained development. Education has to be of the right quality and scope to impact positively on development. Research and community service shall address most challenges in the State and shall impact positively the quality of life of the people.
The vision of the Federal University Lafia is to be a renowned and respected centre of learning, research, and innovation, constituting a centre point for positive socio-economic transformation of the region. The mission of the Federal University Lafia is training graduates and equipping them with the life and entrepreneurial skills needed for the economic development of the nation.
